Kedarnath Yatra for First-Timers: Registration, Trek & Tips

Registration for the Char Dham yatra is mandatory and free on the official Uttarakhand tourism portal. Do it at least two weeks before your trip.
The trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is 16 km with a steady climb. Most people take 6–8 hours. Ponies, palkis and helicopter services are available if you need them.
Carry warm clothes even in summer — nights at Kedarnath drop close to zero. A good pair of shoes and a rain jacket are non-negotiable.
